John F. Burke Nature Preserve

  • Features: Three loop trails around a pond. Several signs to learn about wildlife and plants. 104-acre area.
  • Directions: North of the 635 and east of the President George Bush Turnpike.
  • Hours: Unavailable
  • Cost: Free
  • Tips: It has a lot of great educational aspects. You can expect to hear traffic from the freeways. Go with a friend when it's light, and stay on the trails—there is a lot of trash off to the side. The dirt trails are not stroller-friendly.
